About the Temple Bat Yam Congregation and Building Temple Bat Yam is a warm and friendly Reform Jewish congregation serving South Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley. Set in the majestic Sierras, near the shore of Lake Tahoe, Temple Bat Yam is a casual, eclectic group of Jews and interfaith families, couples, and singles. The temple community is made up of many members originally from other cities, states, or countries, who have left family roots behind to make our homes in the Lake Tahoe area. That alone has motivated us to create a Jewish community which can provide much of what an extended Jewish family might. Today we are a hundred-ish families. We now have a small cozy synagogue which has received much love from its congregants. A highlight of the building itself is the recent addition of a slate mural behind the bimah depicting the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe, its trees and mountains. With open arms, we welcome visitors to participate in prayer and friendship, and to enjoy the blessings of God's wonders while in Lake Tahoe. |
